Scott Williams was raised in Naperville, Illinois, a southwest suburb of Chicago, and developed an interest in music at an early age. He began studying the piano at age 6 and violin at age 9, and thanks to the influence of artists such as Oscar Peterson and Bill Evans he began directing his studies toward jazz.
Scott's early music education came at the Grammy Signature Award winning music department of Neuqua Valley High School under the direction of Charles Staley and Jonathan Lauff. There he studied music theory and performed for 4 years with Neuqua Valley Jazz Orchestra. In addition to winning the school's 2004 Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, Scott also was named to the IMEA All-State Jazz Ensemble in 2003 and 2004, and played with the Youth Jazz Ensemble of DuPage where he had the opportunity to perform with musicians such as Jamie Aebersold, Victor Goines, Terell Stafford, and Mark Colby.
Scott began studying jazz piano with Chicago-based pianist Larry Novak when he started attending DePaul University in 2004; he also received classical instruction from Jupiter Trio pianist Aglika Angelova. While playing for DePaul's Jazz Orchestra in 2005 and 2006 under the direction of Kirk Garrison and Tom Matta, and the critically acclaimed DePaul Jazz Ensemble in 2008 led by Robert Lark, Scott has also been fortunate enough to receive instruction from Tim Coffman, Bob Rummage, Mark Colby, Bobby Broom, and Bob Palmieri. In 2007 Scott joined the Frank Catalano Band and has had the opportunity to open for Stanley Clarke at the Blue Note in New York in March of 2007, and continues to perform weekly at Andy's Jazz Club and The Green Mill in Chicago with Mr. Catalano.
Scott currently resides in Chicago and received a BM in Jazz Studies from DePaul University in 2008. He has performed for many different groups ranging from the Deen Anbar Organ Trio, to La Costa Theatre's productions of "The Last Five Years" and "A New Brain," to solo piano performances for private events, while continuing his work as a private instructor for students of all ages since 2007.

Jason Steele has been leading groups under his own name and steadily performing his original compositions for over 5 years and is available for a wide variety of performances. In addition to group performances he is also available for solo guitar engagements. These following options can also do holiday music, if your event would like!
Gentle Giant Quintet Jason is a regular member of the Gentle Giant Quintet. The GGQ specializes in old crooner music such as Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr, but also can include their own versions of modern artist such as Beck, Radiohead, and Elliott Smith. The Gentle Giant Quintet has very limited availability throughout the year so be sure to send your request early if you would like to bring this one of a kind group to your event. Solo Guitar Solo guitar is a great way to put that special touch into your special event. Jason's repertoire includes jazz standards, original music, as well as some cover songs of more popular artists. This is also designed for those on a budget and those who wish to have the music be more a part of the general background. Duo Jason plays in a wide range of different duo settings. Some examples are guitar and violin, guitar and bass, and guitar and piano. This setting allows for more interaction between the audience and the musicians and most songs tend to be more recognizable to listeners. The repertoire is mostly the same as the solo guitar, but with some added energy. There are no drums in this setting, so it will be a quieter option. An example of the guitar/violin duo can be found here. Trio Treat your guests with a memorable night of fun and music with a jazz trio. Typical setting would be guitar, bass, and drums; however, it can be arranged how you like to compliment the space and event. This group tends to lean toward more jazz standard repertoire, but also plays a great deal of Jason's original compositions and can learn requested songs ahead of time (may be additional charge for this service). Quartet The premier setting for Jason's music is his quartet. They can be seen and heard at various venues around Chicago including Uncommon Ground, Martyrs', and the Whistler. Availability for this quartet is limited so please send your request early. A recent performance review to the quartet can be found here. An example of Jason playing with his ensemble can be found here. Schedule a Performance with Jason |
