Proven teaching method

Lessons are taught in a low-stress format, meeting once a week for a half-hour or full-hour lesson, and follow a program developed by Guitar Chicago based on their experiences as instructors and their careers as touring and recording professionals. Lessons are catered to the individual needs and goals of every individual student. You will be getting an instructor that is a career musician and their main goal is to teach you the in the way you will learn the most effectively. Students also have the opportunity to apply their instruction by writing and recording their own songs on professional studio equipment and performing in Guitar Chicago's Rockfete concert, which is held at the House of Blues.

Convenient Location

Guitar Chicago is located on Michigan Avenue across from Millennium Park in downtown Chicago. Perfect for those working downtown, lessons are a short walk from most businesses. We are located in the Smurfit-Stone building - 28th Floor - 150 North Michigan Ave Chicago, IL 60601.

Professional Instructors

A graduate of Hope College in Psychology and Music, James Lenger has been teaching guitar and bass professionally for 17 years and has given over 50,000 lessons during that time. After touring with his band for a number of years, he founded Guitar Chicago. Check out James' music with the Green Room here.
Jason Steele has been playing guitar for nearly 20 years and teaching for over 10. In 2007, Jason released his debut CD, Some Wonderful Moment, resulting in a great deal of positive attention in the jazz world, as evidenced by recent reviews including: Downbeat, Jazz Times, Jazz Review, and All About Jazz. Originally from Switzerland, Davide Pezzini graduated from Berklee College of Music with degrees in bass performance and arranging & composition. He's been teaching bass and guitar for over 10 years. Davide tours nationally with several tribute acts and plays locally with many singer/songwriters. Davide teaches all levels of bass and beginning to intermediate guitar.
Forrest Weeks is an award winning graduate from Columbia College Chicago in downtown Chicago with a BA in music/ instrumental performance. He is an experienced performer and instructor and has been playing guitar for over 17 years in addition to instructing guitar for 7 years. Forrest teaches all styles of guitar with an emphasis on rock/metal, classical, jazz, sacred/gospel, and blues. A link to his website can be found here.
