Welcome to Guitar Chicago

Guitar Chicago is a school in Chicago's Loop which provides private guitar lessons as well as group instruction. Lessons are provided in a friendly and open atmosphere, and are available as either private lessons for 1-2 students, or small group classes for up to 10 students. We provide the instruments and a comfortable environment to play in, so all you have to do is walk over and get started. Guitar Chicago is open to students of all ages and abilities. We seek to arm the students with knowledge about their instrument and music theory, then teach them how to apply those skills toward learning new songs, or writing their own! Our instructors have been selected out of nearly one hundred applicants, so we are proud to provide instructors that not only know the instrument, but are also effective communicators and outstanding teachers.

Lessons are available for acoustic, electric, lead, rhythm, bass and slide guitar, as well as in song writing, song learning and music theory. All genres welcome, including classical, modern, pop, jazz, rock, R&B, metal, country and blues!

Testimonials

"Jim is so encouraging and patient while navigating the lesson through all the complexities and beauty of the guitar. One does not have to have a musical background to study with him. The Guitar Chicago style of teaching allows the student to have a practical learning experience first. I highly recommend Guitar Chicago." -- Catherine Z.

"Playing guitar during the work day is hard to beat. I shut down my email, walk down the street, grab a pick and start playing. Jim's approach to teaching is clever, they keep things at an appropriate pace and he sets the lesson plan according to what is most important to the student. His knowledge and talent runs deep, and he's not a bad guy to hang out with in the middle of the day." -- Scott C.
